MCM or Mode Creation Munich, the brand’s name in long form was founded in 1975. Created by Michael Cromer, who formed the brand based out of his home country of Germany; it is no question that the Germans know quality, creating such products like BMW’s to Cazals, of which we also proudly carry here at VFC. The brand maintained a popular status that epitomized glamour from the time it was born until the mid-nineties, where its popularity fleeted as it went under a branding reconstruction. MCM enjoyed most of its fame in the 1980’s, where it was a corner stone for fashion and status in the Hip Hop community and even had supermodel Cindy Crawford pose scandalously for their ad campaigns.
These MCM 709 97 shades are a perfect example of the brand's clean but flawless aesthetic. The thick, solid black acrylic frame is shaped in the quintessential squared, oval early 90's eyewear body of choice and encases a solid black frame. The show stopper about these frames are the stainless steel metal detailing on the arm of the shades that features the brand's "MCM" initials in a rectangular floating hardware that is complimented by minature screws that imitate hardware bolts. These MCM's are perfect to rock when your wardrobe is telling you to throw it back; whether you're feeling like Lisa Left Eye Lopez or LL Cool J that day.
